Why iLuminate™?

The patented iLuminate™ system is the first and only wearable, wireless lighting system that offers customizable, intelligent lighting that you can control via different mediums across many performers. Real-time control mediums include DMX consoles, ProTools, MIDI devices, pre-programmed sequences that you can trigger, or our very own custom iPod/iPad application for a truly interactive experience. The small and light-weight iLuminate™ devices can wirelessly control strings of EL (Electroluminescent) wire or LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) on costumes or props for a fully customized multicolor light display; perfect for dancers, aerialists, choreographers, stylists, musicians, DJs and set designers. We're also an innovative, brand new way to highlight event staff, brands, and logos. Whether you want to implement interactive guerilla marketing campaigns, or dance and performance events seek to draw larger audiences with the use of a completely new technology, the iLuminate™ wireless lighting system bridges the gap between choreography and lighting design. We bring audiences the very first in cutting edge luminography.

How Safe is iLuminate™?

Safety was one of our primary objectives when we built this wearable technology. We had some of the best engineers and software developers in the industry work on iLuminate™ devices to make sure they are robust, safe, durable and light-weight. In addition, our extensive rehearsal process tests out the durability on dancers in several atmospheres and genres of movement.

LED12 - Light Emitting Diodes

  • The LED12 device controls 12 channels of Light-Emitting Diode Ribbon/Tape or Discrete LEDs.
  • Control up to 30 feet of Single-Density RGB Ribbon, 20 feet of Double-Density RGB Ribbon, or over 60 feet of Singe-color LED Ribbon.
  • Control over 20mA 150 discrete LEDs
  • RGB ribbon/tape/leds uses channels for the Red/Green/Blue to create thousands of shades of color
  • Single-color ribbon/tape uses 1 channel with fading in/out fully supported. Color Options include:
Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Warm White, Neutral White, Cool White and UV
  • 12 individually controllable lighting channels can be used to get 12 channels of single colors, 4 channels or RGB or a mixture of both.
  • The dimensions of the device are 28mm x 90mm x 80mm and it only weighs 3.7 Oz
  • We supply rechargeable Li-Ion batteries that are 71mm x 56mm x 19mm, weigh 5.2 Oz. and have a life of 4 - 6 hours.
  • As the battery supply is getting low, we send out ample warnings before shutting down the device so that brightness is not compromised.
  • The LEDs are very bright - so bright they can even be used by performers to self-illuminate or illuminate surrounding set pieces.
  • In creative uses you can go with single points of light, add a diffuser to get more ambient lighting, or stitch the LEDs behind a logo for branding.
  • Fading is fully supported and color-mixing is supported if using RGB ribbon
  • Several on-board effects with adjustable speeds and parameters are also available

EL8 - Electroluminescent Lighting

  • The EL8 device controls 8 channels of Electroluminescent Wire.
  • Each channel can illuminate up to 15 ft of wire - for a total of up to 120 ft/ EL8 Device
  • Brightness is constant - no matter what length wires you have connected
  • Color options, in order of brightness, are:
White, Aqua, Lime-Green, Yellow, Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple and Red
  • Fading in/out and cross-fading is fully supported
  • Several on-board effects with adjustable speeds and parameters are also available
  • Monitoring of battery levels and status of each EL Wire is available via a web interface
  • EL Wire is best used for outlines of the body or to accentuate movement
  • For tours - it is best if the costuming option allows for easy replacement of wires

Control Options

  • DMX-512
  • MIDI
  • Protools
  • Pre-programming of sequences by an iLuminate professional that you can trigger via our web interface
  • Dynamic control via custom iPod/iPad App

System Testing/Diagnostic Information

  • Website application - best used on iPad - that allows you to:
    • See Which device(s) are on-line
    • Know the battery status for each device
    • Test lights, especially for EL Wire, and know if you need to change any lights
    • Test the lights to make sure they all work from backstage - so the wardrobe team is able to verify the costume looks as expected before the performers hit the stage
  • If using DMX
    • Know the DMX channel mapping for each device
    • Change the DMX mapping of a device quickly (If you need to switch out a device)

DMX Control Overview

You can control between 36 - 51 devices per universe (depending on how many EL8 vs LED12 devices you are using) Channel break-down (per device):

  • Channel 1: On Board Effect. Options include:
    • Chase
    • Strobe
    • Waterfall On/Off (continuous)
  • Channel 2: Speed of On Board Effect
    • Starts at 16 ms between each light change to up to 4000 ms delay
  • Channel 3 - 14: Dimmers for each on-board light channel
    • EL8 devices for electroluminescent wires have 8 dimmer channels (3- 10)
    • LED12 devices for LED lighting has 12 dimmer channels (3 - 14)
    • You can us a subset of dimmer channels
    • Fading and cross-fading is fully-supported on both devices
    • Color-mixing supported for RGB LEDs (uses 3 channels)

Protools Overview

We can have one of our lighting designers program a show for you and it can run directly off of ProTools. All you need to supply is the starting Hour/Min/Sec and the BPM of the song and the second that SMPTE Timecode comes in the lighting cues will be triggered. You can add different lighting pieces for the different BPMs. If you want to change cues just let us know and we will send you a new cue file that you can upload to our custom web interface.

Pre-Programming Overview

We can have one of our lighting designers program a show for you and it can triggered directly from our web interface with a click of a button!! If you want to change cues just let us know and we will send you a new cue file that you can upload to our custom web interface.
